LifeGel Starter Pack is the product consisting of two multi-well plates covered by the LifeGel for 3D cell culture in the presence of a cell culture medium or PBS and Digestion Kit. There are three main options of plates covered by the LifeGel: standard, panel of LifeGels and customized.

LifeGel is not a single hydrogel for three-dimensional (3D) cell culture - it is a technology platform. LifeGel Starter Pack gives the possibility to carry out first basic experiments.

The main task of 3D culturing is to prepare cells for further biochemical, molecular or imaging analyses. The Digestion Kit is a set of enzymes used to release cells cultured on LifeGel or from primary tissue. Depending on incubation time a single cells or spheroids are isolated from LifeGel. Carefully selected combinations of enzymes digest the hydrogel as well as the protein connections between cells, enabling single cells to be recovered. In contrast to classically used trypsin, these enzymes do not digest the membrane proteins necessary for the proper functioning of the cell, so the Digestion Kit is therefore more gentle on cells. The released cells can then be used in further experiments such as gene or protein expression analyses, or they can be re-seeded for further culturing.
The Digestion Kit contains four 4 mL vials (16 mL in total) containing appropriate enzymes that when added to the LifeGel (in a 1:1 ratio) release cells for further experiments. In general, 16 mL of enzymes are sufficient to digest one culture plate of LifeGel or 16 g of tissue.

LifeGel technology gives the possibility to match the perfect hydrogel for each cell line.
Based on our many years of experience we have selected one type of the hydrogel that is suitable for most of standard 3D cell culture – STANDARD TYPE of LifeGel for 3D cell culture. Available in standard 48- and 96-well plate. If you need a customized format please contact us.
PANEL OF LIFEGELS FOR 3D CELL CULTURE – LifeGel technology is a panel of hydrogels with a range of elasticity from 180 Pa to 5 kPa. Panel of LifeGels for 3D cell culture is a 48-well plate with a whole range of types of LifeGel. There are two options: panel of 16 types of LifeGel (each type of LifeGel is in triplicate), panel of 24 types of LifeGel (each type of LifeGel is in duplicate). Choosing Panel of LifeGels you can test which type of hydrogel is the most suitable for your cell culture or your assay.
We know that carrying out a sophisticated research is related with a very carefully selecting of research model. To meet the expectations we offer the CUSTOMISED TYPE of LifeGel for 3D cell culture. All LifeGels are available in standard cell culture medium: RPMI, DMEM-HG (Standard), DMEM-LG, DMEM/F-12 or in PBS. If you use a different cell culture medium we recommend buying the version with PBS and incubating the hydrogel with a right medium 2 hours before starting a cell culture. If you want to buy the LifeGel in a customized cell culture medium please contact us.
LIFEGEL DIGESTION KIT allows the quick and gentle release of single cells grown on LifeGel while preserving the highest-possible yield. The Digestion Kit (4 x 4 mL) is ready to use and sufficient for digestion of a 48-well or 96-well plate.
TISSUE DIGESTION KIT allows the quick and gentle release of single cells from primary tissue while preserving the highest-possible yield. The Digestion Kit (4 x 4 mL) is ready to use and sufficient for digestion of 16 g of tissue.
